Released on December 26, 2014, Director Ezhil’s Vellakkara Durai stars the following: Vikram Prabhu, Sri Divya, Soori, John Vijay, M.S. Bhaskar and a host of other comedians. Does the mention of “comedians” ring a bell of extreme entertainment? Subjectively, it may not be so; it however manages an overall average output.
The story line to this movie is never new to movie lovers. In fact, it is a repetition of Director Ezhil’s story line and comedy tracks as seen in Thesingu Raja and Manam Kothi Paravai. What’s more, there are various commercial movies with this same story line – and that’s what makes movie fans bored with Vellakkara Durai. As the story unfolds, we get to meet two close friends, one of whom falls in love with a beautiful lady. Then comes a twist to the love story: a villain comes into the scene to thwart the unfolding love experiences of the couple. The man in love, however, manages to save his girl from this villain and gets back together with the love of his life.
Unfortunately, this movie does not provide the anticipated entertainment despite being full of comical dose. I think Director Ezhil should go back to the drawing board and come again with great movies as he used to do.
